Polychrono, charming and unique summer destination

Polychrono is an old village which over time has turned into a popular destination attracting many visitors as it gets much alive during summer. It is  located in the first peninsula of Halkidiki (Kassandra), 96 km away from Thessaloniki. It is situated after Kryopigi, towards the road to Pefkochori and next to Hanioti.

Polichrono is a village suitable for family vacations but also known for its pleasant nightlife. In the center of the village and along the coast road you can find lots of taverns or restaurants with fresh fish and traditional Greek cuisine and bars. There, you can enjoy an afternoon or evening walk, a refreshing cocktail or dine with your beloved ones.

On the beach, which is 7 km long and is ‘’blue flag’’ awarded you can find water sports, sea bikes, jet ski rentals, and of course many organized beach bars. Polychrono is surrounded by beautiful nature, with the landscape dominated by the pine forest and olive tree plantations.

From Polichrono, there is a road over the mountain which will lead you after 20 km to Fourka through Kassandrino village. Using this path, you will avoid the main road through Kallithea which is very crowded in the summer. The road is a little narrow, but the route is charming.

If you love nature the Mavrobara Lake, located 3 km from Polichrono towards the mountain, is a site of considerable ecological interest. It was declared as a protected natural monument in 1997 and that is the only wetland that shelters two rare species of water turtles in danger of extinction (Emys orbicularis and Mauremys caspica), which find refuge there. There are walking trails around the lake, with natural springs and lush greenery to revitalize yourself.
